Our Review of CDP-Choline

CDP-Choline is hands down one of the most effective supplements improving cognitive ability, and the research couldn’t be more clear on this. This is because cdp-choline is actually a naturally-occuring compound that the brain produces, and it knows exactly what to do with it when it’s supplemented.

Citicoline is involved in a complex chain of biochemical reactions in the brain and is a critical component of cell membranes. It protects the brain against damage, including cognitive decline associated with

Most notably, cdp choline also supplies the brain with large amounts of acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is one of the most important neurotransmitters for regulating conitive function, especially attention and memory.

Typically, people will seek to supplement choline supplements which the brain uses to synthesize acetylcholine. However, many of these choline supplements are poorly absorbed and have limited effectiveness.

Citicoline Dosage Information and Stack Advice

A typical dose is 300mg taken up to 4 times daily. Start with smaller doses and work your way up slowly. A common side effect with choline supplements is a “flat” mood – caused by reflective thoughts overriding emotionality.

Citicoline is synergistic when combined with a racetam such as phenylpiracetam, as racetams tend to utilize significant amounts of acetylcholine in the brain. Higher doses of citicoline may be necessary than normal if taking a racetam.

CDP Choline vs Alpha GPC

We strongly believe that cdp-choline and alpha-gpc are hands down the most effective choline-boosting nootropics on the market today.

However, many people often wonder how they compare. The differences between them actually fairly apparent, based on the studies and from user reports on places such as reddit.

CDP-Choline can be thought of a general-purpose nootropic that does a lot more than just boost acetylcholine in the brain. It’s effective both in the short-term and long term: in the short term, it raises acetylcholine, dopamine, and norepinephrine.  In the long term it helps prevent cognitive decline by preserving cellular structures, and can even increase the density of dopamine receptors

In contrast, Alpha-GPC is hands down the most effective nootropic for elevating acetylcholine. As such, it is a world class memory-enhancing nootropic.and there is an increasingly large body of research that shows incredible potential for improving memory and learning processes. Unlike cdp-choline, it does not appear to do much beyond enhancing memory, and it’s unclear if it has any long-term benefits.

In short, if memory enhancement is your primary goal, alpha-gpc is a better choice. And if you’re taking a racetam such as pramiracetam, it may provide more “bang for your buck” in preserving acetylcholine levels.

However, if general cognitive enhancement and long-term brain health is your goal, cdp-choline is the better choice. No doubt, it will also prove to be quite effective when stacked with racetams, and can still supply plenty of acetylcholine with reasonably small doses.
